Represented a UAE real estate investment and development company in $220 million arbitration dispute before the DIFC (Dubai International Financial Centre). Claimant construction company filed its request for arbitration proceedings, alleging breach of contract by the client. Representation included researching, crafting and advising on its defense and exploring possible counter claim strategies against the claimant.
Represented purchasers on the acquisition of an international franchise chain; conducted due diligence on the target, provided support with financing, and drafted and revised transaction documents including the SPA.
Advised major French solar and wind power manufacturer on its desired expansion into to the United Arab Emirates. Prepared Foreign Direct Investment advice memorandum regarding the legal implications and options relating to doing business in the United Arab Emirates, including pros and cons of establishing in “free zones”, tax considerations, local sponsorship rules, and other practical considerations.
Advised governmental clients on litigation strategies including the feasibility of bringing various causes of action against deceptive business practices against multi-national corporations.
Represented Kuwait based oil and gas consulting agency in arbitration before the ICC (International Chamber of Commerce) against Kuwait based oil and gas refining company for multi-million dollar breach of fee sharing agreements with respect to revenue generated by a major American international energy corporation.
